IgnitED Labs: Technology Training for Onboarding Employees

Technical Documentation

June 2020

In an effort to standardize the knowledge of newly hired employees of the IgnitED Labs, this training packet was created. It includes a hands-on approach, which was modified during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure that all training could be done remotely. Below are select images from the training guide.

Considerations and processes

Software/Tool(s): Google Docs

Since the IgnitED Labs are directly associated with Arizona State University (within Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College), explicit choices were made to follow the university’s branding in a clean and aesthetically-pleasing way.

The goal of this project was to create a standardized training curriculum that was effective in its instruction of major content as well as appearing clean, organized, and easy-to-follow.

Using Google Docs, I created this file in a format that could be printed and filled out by hand. The document could also be downloaded as a PDF to be filled out in Adobe Acrobat.

The content of the training curriculum grouped the technologies it aimed to train new employees on, and in a way that prioritized the most popular technologies first. Training Module 1 was added after the COVID-19 pandemic moved all work to a virtual format.
